John Enright

President & Private Wealth Advisor

EMAIL: JOHN.ENRIGHT@TEAMCWM.COM

Hi there! My name is John and I’m committed to mastering the art of creative financial planning. That’s because I prefer to focus my efforts on finding the right solution, rather than the easy solution when it comes to helping clients reach new peaks. That’s why I pride myself and our team on providing quality, consistent and continuous service.

While I enjoy working with clients from many industries, I’ve found my level of expertise especially informative for individuals involved in construction and construction-related businesses. By working with individuals from these fields, I can confidently design customized financial strategies that encompass estate planning, retirement and benefit analysis, investment planning and business succession planning.

Speaking of which, here are a few my proudest accomplishments in the field:

  • Developing a reputation as the financial planning partner of choice for construction professionals.
  • Being covered in The Wall Street Journal.
  • Obtaining a spot on the “Four Under Forty” in the United States as shown on the cover of Advisor Today Magazine.
  • Becoming a quotable thought leader among numerous publications.
  • Presenting at multiple industry and non-industry events across the country.

I am currently a member of the Financial Planning Association, NAIFA and serve on the Finance Committee for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). I am also an advisor to the Monsignor Ronald C. Bill Scholarship Foundation and was recently selected by the Alumni of Hobart College as a candidate for Trustee. Previously, I acted as a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Syracuse.

I am often a featured speaker at national symposiums as well as local media and organizational programs that benefit clients, colleagues and the community.

My continued goal is to build and hone in on my unique ability, which includes focusing on my prime skills in helping clients.

My Story

I began my career as a traditional commission-based advisor after graduating from Hobart College in 1995. The work required of me as an advisor was nothing new. That’s because I learned about the importance of hard work and perseverance through my father, who worked as a steamfitter for 45 years.

After working purely on commission, I realized that I could better serve my clients by focusing on their unique objectives rather than trying to get the next sale. As a result, I transitioned Custom Wealth Management to a fee-based planning approach in 2002 that focused on providing estate retirement as well as investment and business owner planning strategies.

The real impact of this shift in thinking, as shown through my clients’ success, lit a desire in me to help other advisors do the same through fee-based planning. That’s when I decided to collaborate with Dan Sullivan, the respected founder of Strategic Coach, to refine the processes of Custom Wealth Management into what it is today.

By 2010, Custom Wealth Management had developed to a point where other advisors could take on its in-depth process and adapt it to best fit their needs and the needs of their clients.

When reflecting on the success seen by Custom Wealth management, I’d like to think that my greatest achievements derive from the things I did because of my frustration with particular aspects of the finance industry. The biggest of them all is the realization of how little the consumer understands about different types of advisors.

Outside of the office, I love to travel and be in the water, specifically at my lake house with my wife Kristin, sons Andrew and Cooper and daughter Paige.

Did You Know...

I have traveled to all but four of the 50 states. I have yet to visit North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming or Montana.

Hi all! My name is Perry and I am one of the Certified Financial Planners here at Custom Wealth Management. Our job as a team at CWM is to help you understand:

  • HOW your journey to and through retirement will look
  • WHY there could be a better path to take
  • WHERE to make those strategic adjustments
  • WHEN to incorporate those adjustments

My Story

I graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2002 majoring in Business Administration. From there I moved to Florida and gained valuable experience in both management and sales positions before going back to school to earn a degree in Professional Golf Management in 2007.

In 2009 I was offered the General Manager position at Timber Banks Golf Club which is what brought me back home. In the fall of 2013, the financial industry came calling. I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2017 which is what eventually led me here, to CWM.

Outside of the office I spend most of my time with my daughter Michaela and son Perry IV. When I can sneak away, it is usually to the golf course unless it is Sunday, in which case you will find me on the soccer pitch. I am the team captain of the 2 time defending champs of a co-ed soccer league.

Did You Know...

My middle name is Pro…… just kidding.

Actually, I don’t have a middle name, and neither does my father (Perry Jr.) or my son (Perry IV).

Hello.  My name is Sam and I look forward to helping people achieve their financial goals and aspirations.  I’m a big believer in the need for everyone to have some level of financial literacy and, as such, I’ve always worked to help simplify financial concepts necessary for people to understand and achieve their goals.  I am a Syracuse, NY native and have lived here my entire life except for a three-year stint in Orlando, FL.

My Story

After achieving my undergraduate degree in Accounting from Canisius College in Buffalo, I found a great path for myself in the corporate world.  I worked for a couple of small companies for the first few years before taking a role at United Technologies @Carrier Corporation.  After 9 years and a move to Orlando to help lead their largest Distribution Center and experience the joy of hurricanes, we moved back to Syracuse with our first child (Jack) and I took a lead finance role as the International Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis at Cooper Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse, NY.   Following 7 years of increasing roles in Finance and M&A, I was able to help close 5 acquisitions and left as Director of FP&A and acquisition Integration.  Leveraging this experience, I took a new opportunity as Executive Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at ITT Corporation.  I spent ~7 years at ITT, leaving as a CFO of a half-billion-dollar Global Aftermarket and Engineered Pumps business including serving temporarily as the acting-GM of the company’s largest manufacturing facility.  I was happy to receive the company’s highest award (the President’s award) for stepping into the acting GM role which was outside of my background and quite frankly, outside of my comfort zone, however, it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my career.  After 25 years in Corporate Finance, I’ve made a conscious decision to move into Personal Financial Wealth Advising because I have a natural desire to help people improve their financial well-being.  I’ve done all of this with the unyielding support and patience of my beautiful wife, Nicole and my two favorite teenagers, Jack and Bianca.

Did You Know...

Aside from my degree in Accounting and my MBA, my wife and kids tell me that I have a Doctorate in Sarcasm; however, what they see as sarcasm, I see as adding levity to their lives…

My Story

I started in the financial services industry in 2016 with Wells Fargo in Tampa, FL, where I worked alongside two local advisors and their investment team. After getting married in 2019, my wife and I decided to move closer to home and wound up in Syracuse, NY. I caught on with a local credit union and worked in their investment division as the assistant and operations manager for four advisors. In March 2023, I joined the team at Custom Wealth Management.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Stephanie and our 1 year old son, Jack. We enjoy exploring the many trails and hiking paths in the area, as well as cooking at home. I also am an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and like to get out on the golf course as much as possible.

Retirement Plan Specialist

Hello!  My name is Jeff and I have several jobs within the CWM team.  Some of my time is spent analyzing current, and potential future, investments for our clients.  I also handle the allocation and rebalancing of our client accounts within our customized portfolios; therefore, I will also handle most of the cash management within our client accounts as well.  My other main duties revolve around our retirement plan clients.  I put together all the plan review documents on an ongoing basis and all our retirement plan participant educational presentations.  I will also take on various other tasks involving client accounts or items within the retirement plans that John manages.

My Story

I grew up in Connecticut and went to college just outside of Boston at Bentley College (now Bentley University!), graduating with a BS in Accounting.  After graduating, I moved to New York City and started my career on Wall Street with a boutique investment banking firm as a registered representative.   After several years as an advisor, I moved on to work for a Fortune 500 Company for over a decade as a Regional Vice President in Upstate NY. In that role, I focused on helping financial advisors grow their businesses by creating appropriate financial solutions for their clients.  I was able to meet several hundred advisors and was able to gain a huge amount of experience from many different sources.  In 2020, I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to John and the team at CWM and learn about their approach to wealth management.  In May of 2021, I joined the CWM Team in my current role and couldn’t be happier.  I have been in the industry for over 30 years and have not seen a team that does more for their clients than CWM does.  I hold my Series 7 & 63 licenses and have a NY State Life & Health License.  I am also a notary public.

Now for the less tedious information!  I live in Fayetteville with my wife Zulma (or Z for those that have trouble with her name) and my youngest son, Brandon. Our two older boys, AJ (don’t call him Aaron) and David, have both moved on from the long winters of Syracuse!  I spent several years coaching all 3 of our boys in basketball, football and baseball in Little League, Pop Warner, and travel & AAU basketball.  I spent time on the board of directors of FM Youth Basketball, FM Pop Warner & FM Little League.

Did You Know...

Being born & raised in Connecticut you are automatically a UConn basketball fan for life.  Some, such as myself, are a little more fanatical than others!  Orange fans, please don’t hold it against me, I did not choose where I was born!
